Short Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL)
An occupation on the STSOL enables employers to address labour shortages by bringing in skilled workers with these occupations where employers can’t source an appropriately skilled Australian worker.
If you have an occupation on the Short Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL) then, subject to securing a job offer from an Australian Employer, you will be able to qualify for and secure a 482/TSS sponsored visa.
The disadvantage of having an occupation on the STSOL is that it qualifies for Sponsored Visas offered under the Short-term stream only. As the name would imply, the short-term stream is designed for employers to source genuine temporary overseas skilled workers in occupations for a maximum of two years each time.
It is also, generally more difficult to secure Australian Permanent residence if you have an occupation on the STSOL (though pathways do still exist).
