About the Role This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Research Fellow to join the prestigious Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity and contribute to groundbreaking research under the guidance of Dr. Jan Schroeder within the Computational Sciences Initiative (CSI). The institute’s renowned work on infectious diseases and immunity, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic, underscores its dedication to impactful research. As a member of the CSI, the successful candidate will collaborate with diverse research teams, leading bioinformatics projects focused on infectious diseases and immunology. The role’s emphasis on multi-omic data analysis, integration, and cutting-edge machine learning techniques offers a unique chance to drive scientific discoveries while contributing to innovative approaches in bioinformatics.

Your responsibilities will include: -Assist the development of a strong program of collaborative research with other groups in the Doherty Institute in bioinformatics. -Use best-practice pipelines for analysis of multi-omic data generated by collaborators. -Develop new methods and software packages for analysis of genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic sequence data where appropriate. -Develop and apply machine learning approaches to analyse multi-omics datasets.

Who We Are Looking For You possess the ability to manage multiple collaborator projects, displaying strong organisational skills for accurate data analysis. Your excellent communication, initiative, and teamwork drive timely project completion and impactful interactions within our research community.

You will also have: -Completion of a Master in bioinformatics, computer science or a related field. -Demonstrated ability to communicate across teams and disciplines (computer science and biology), work as a member of a research team, and interact in a courteous, collaborative, and effective manner with academic and administrative staff. -Experience in running bioinformatics workflows on high-performance computing clusters. -Experience in analysis of high-dimensional datasets, ideally those arising from high-throughput molecular assays.
