Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of a Machinist is to maintain, repair, and fabricate parts for various mining equipment, such as drills, crushers, conveyors, and more.

As a hardworking skilled fitter, you will be required to fabricate, fit and assemble the structural components of various mechanical systems, will have the ability to repair malfunctioning mechanical systems, along with keeping accurate records of all maintenance work completed. You will be experience with preventative maintenance of plant and equipment with a focus on maintaining safety and maximizing production. Follow all Safety procedures to ensure the safety of yourself, crew members & the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Operation: Operate various machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) equipment to fabricate, repair, or modify mining equipment components.
• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand the design and dimensions of the parts to be manufactured or repaired.
• Precision Machining: Ensure precision and accuracy in machining and fabricating components, adhering to tight tolerances to meet equipment specifications.
• Tool Selection: Select appropriate tools, cutting tools, and materials for specific jobs, considering the type of metal, hardness, and other factors.
• Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance and repair of mining equipment components, including shafts, gears, hydraulic components, and more to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
• Welding: Proficiency in welding techniques for joining and repairing metal components when necessary.
• Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment, as mining sites can pose significant hazards.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect finished components to ensure they meet quality standards, identifying and rectifying defects or deviations from specifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience working in the mining and heavy earthmoving industry
• Several years of experience in machining, with a focus on repairing and fabricating mining equipment components.
• Proficiency in operating a variety of machining equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and experience with welding equipment.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance in the mining industry.
• Strong Safety Focus
• Strong work ethic

Essential:

• Relevant Trade qualifications – Certificate III
• C Drivers License
• Coal Board Medical
• Standard 11 SOA
