DOC Group is seeking a new Junior sous chef to take on the role at our Lygon Street restaurant and cafe, DOC Espresso. We’re looking for a passionate and energetic chef with a great understanding of Italian food and culture, to come on board for daily operations and continue our showcase of fresh, authentic Italian food and service.
Full time or part time hours available, with the opportunity for sponsorship.
About us:
D.O.C Group is, and has been a Lygon street institution since 1997. We have since grown to a 7 Venue company across Carlton, Southbank and Mornington in Victoria and Surry Hills in Sydney. We’re expanding our group and we’re looking for great new additions to our team to continue our growth.
About the role:
day to day operations will include:
- Contributing to kitchen preparation and service.
- Maintaining overall responsibility for service and dish offerings.
- Working alongside management and directorship to maintain cost of goods and reduce wastage.
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment, enforcing hygiene standards in the workplace.
- Building an enthusiastic team and workplace morale.
- Continued education and partaking in on the job training.
About you:
We’re looking for a team member who is looking to grow as an individual within the company, key attributes we are looking for include:
- Holds relevant qualifications and can display clear industry education.
- An autonomous leader, with great communication skills and clear vision.
- Has a interest in Italian culture, tradition, cuisine and provenance of food, experience living abroad or immigrating from Italy is beneficial.
- Experience managing a section during peak service.
- Has an understanding of safe and hygienic kitchen practices.
- Makes a strong individual contribution to their team.
- Shares our passion for authentic, quality produce and service.
