We’re looking for a diesel truck mechanic to work for an automotive repair service company in Melbourne, Victoria. The primary duties of the role include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analysing diagnostic test results, and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking, or lighting system components.
The candidate needs to be highly organised and able to communicate effectively, as they will be expected to maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and interact with customers on a daily basis.
About the role:
- Service, repair, and maintain specialised trucks and fleet.
- Provide technical advice and support to field teams as required.
- Prioritization and organisation of parts, scheduling, and carrying out routine maintenance
- Assist with the day-to-day running of workshops, job orders, and activities.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
The ideal candidate:
- Must have automotive trade qualifications degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering.
- Apprenticeship plus 3–5 years of post-apprenticeship work experience is preferred.
- Have extensive knowledge of trucks and fleets.
- Experience with Volvo, MAN, Benz, and Isuzu (not required but desirable).
- Repair and maintenance skills (including hydraulic repairs and basic welding knowledge).
- Can work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficient communication skills
The company is an approved employer sponsor. Therefore, while local candidates will be given priority, outstanding international onshore candidates may also be considered for employment with working visa sponsorship.
