Job description: Our client is looking for an experience CNC Lathe Operator | Fitter Machinist to join their team in Winchelsea, Victoria. Position Purpose:

The CNC Lathe Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC lathes to produce precision parts. The ideal candidate will ensure that the produced items meet specified production requirements, deadlines, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Setup and Operation:

• Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC lathes according to job orders.
• Interpret and implement G-code programs.
• Interpret blueprints or design plans to ensure accuracy in machining operations.
• Select, measure, and load the right cutting tools for the job.
• Adjust machine settings for optimal performance.

Quality Assurance:

• Monitor and inspect parts for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Modify settings to correct any discrepancies in product dimensions or finishes.
• Document all completed work for traceability and quality purposes.

Routine Maintenance:

• Perform regular machine maintenance checks and report any irregularities in machine performance.
• Clean and maintain the workspace to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Continuous Improvement:

• Suggest improvements for machining operations to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Stay updated with the latest machining techniques, tooling, and best practices.

Safety:

• Comply with all safety guidelines and procedures, and ensure that the machine operates safely at all times.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure its proper use by all team members.

Teamwork and Communication:

• Work closely with team members, production managers, and quality control personnel to ensure smooth operations.
• Communicate any issues, concerns, or recommendations to management and the team in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical or vocational training in CNC operations or machining essential.
• Prior experience working with CNC lathes and proficient with G-Code programming language.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of various metals and the machining processes required for each.
• Familiarity with the safety precautions and standard operating procedures for machining operations.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing quality products.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to various chemicals, loud noises, and potential hazards.
