About the Business
Yass Soldiers Club is centrally located in the town of Yass approximately 50km from Canberra City Centre, the organisation comprises a large modern bistro/restaurant, two function rooms, gaming area, lounge, two bars and significant outdoor areas. Our Club is home to over 40 staff and 5000 members. The Club is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. We value progression in our business and have plans to increase seating capacity in our bistro and provide additional function facilities to meet the demands of our patronage.
About the Role:
An exciting career opportunity exists for highly motivated and proactive experienced Chef to assist the Head Chef in the running of the kitchen operations of Yass Soldiers Club and to play an integral part in taking the venue forward. Reporting to the Head Chef, this The ideal candidate will be a ‘hands on, experienced, motivated individual, who has a passion for food, people and take ownership of the role.
Duties Include (but are not limited to):
Assist in the day-to-day operations of all food preparation and production.
A Hands-on approach to cooking, training, and development.
Provide a high level of customer service to all customers and stakeholders
Assist with Menu development, food preparation, cost control and stocktaking
Ensuring consistent levels of food service throughout the Club at all stages of food production
Assist in Teaching, Training & Mentoring junior kitchen staff.
Ensuring all WH&S and food safety standards are met and exceeded
Assist the Head Chef to Maximise profitable food revenue in the Club
To be considered for this role you will need to hold:
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Equivalent
You should also be able to demonstrate:
Experience in large scale kitchen brigades
Experience in a Chef role for more than 3yrs is essential
Commitment to providing excellent food
Strong time-management, attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work well under pressure
Experience in functions and events and able to work in a fast-paced environment is an advantage
Practical & theoretical knowledge of WH&S and Food Safety
Great communication across all levels of the business
Very high personal presentation standards
This role will require worked a variety of shifts including nights and weekends.
