We have recently been awarded several new projects and need to recruit a carpenter with formwork experience. The ideal candidate must have experience using Doka, Ischebeck Titan and Peri systems. The person must be willing to commit to the company on a long-term basis and agree to be relocated to another regional area at short notice. We are committed to employing local workers. Ideally, we would like to recruit an Australian or a New Zealand resident for this position.
Salary: This is a full-time position. You will be paid as per the CFMEU rates, which are currently $52.14 per hour plus superannuation. Based on a 36-hour week you will earn $97,606.08. Due to the nature of our work you may be asked to work regular overtime shifts.
Applicants should possess:
1. At least 3 year’s experience working as a carpenter
2. Be able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and select appropriate formwork
3. Certificate 3 in carpentry is desirable but not essential if you have extensive work experience
Your primary role is will involve building decks, walls and columns to pre-designed specifications in readiness for concrete pouring or other elements.
Daily duties are listed below:
· Forming/erecting/stripping formwork materials for construction of decks/columns/miscellaneous structures
· Reading drawings to interpret formwork designs
· Liaising with team members and foreman in the day to day operations of the project
· Passing on knowledge or info to junior team members
· Working competently with Doka/Peri/Ischebek Titan formwork systems on a day to day basis
· Assembling timber structures for concrete walls, lift wall, columns, slabs and beams
· All carpentry work associated with preparing ground slabs and suspended slabs
· Cutting, preparing, assembling and installing wood structures
· Ensuring adherence to building codes and regulations
· Ensuring adherence to local job site safety rules and regulations
· Effectively utilising different types of wood based on adaptability
· Erect framework and props using hand tools, nails and other equipment (Impact drivers, grinder, hammer, drills, levels)
· Measuring and calculating before cutting timber
· Checking elevations using a level
· Preparing timber layouts
