In general, when you have secured a job in Australia and have been issued your sponsored visa, your 482 Visa is going to be valid for between 2 and 4 years.
At the end of this period (and subject to you still enjoying working and living in Australia), you may be thinking about if you can extend a 482 Visa?
Can You Extend a 482 Visa?
The short answer is yes! You can extend your 482 Visa. For visas granted to occupations on the short term occupations list STSOL, a visa holder can re-apply for one further two year 482 visa.
For those with occupations on the Medium Term Occupations List MLTSSL, the visa holder can renew the 482 visa for a further 4 years, or transition to permanent residency visa.
Under both scenarios, your employer will need to submit a new nomination. You cannot extend a 482 visa in isolation of your employer. They will need to be involved in this process.
